We began the month of October with the Feast of the Protecting Veil of the Mother of God on October 1st. The Tradition of the Church describes in the Lives of the Saints, how the All-Pure Virgin covered the worshippers in the Church that day with her omophorion, her protecting veil. There were, of course, different people in the church, the pious and the godly, the not very pious, perhaps some who had grown cold in faith, and maybe even the very sinful. But did the Mother of God inquire into this? Did she separate the good from the bad? No, she covered everyone with her omophorion! That is why we firmly trust that although we often prove ourselves unworthy of God’s mercy, yet the Mother of God prays on our behalf before the Lord Jesus Christ. The Mother of God has covered us with her protecting veil and prays to Him for us all: the good and the evil; for the righteous and for sinners, for the pious and the impious. For everyone! Always remember that under her protection, we are safeguarded as nowhere else in the world. Therefore always pray to the Mother of God with faith and trust. Pray to the Heavenly Mother, to whom the Lord Jesus Christ gave the adoption of the entire human race. And that means all of us, everyone is dear to her heart. Do not forget this and turn to her with trust, that she shelter us beneath her compassion and protect us with her precious veil.
